Central Diesel Services Ltd (CDS), is pleased to announce the appointment of Nigel Monk to the newly created position of Engineering Manager.
CDS recently relocated their Engineering Department to a purpose designed facility at 55 Hull Road, Mount Maunganui, to meet the increasing demand for transport related engineering work. With large drive-through workshop bays, overhead gantry and huge yard space, CDS also provides easy site access off both Hull Road and York Avenue. CDS can handle any size job, with a team of engineers experienced with steel, aluminium and stainless.
Nigel will be well known to many in the heavy transport industry, having had extensive experience specifically in the central North Island, including CDS’s prime area, the Bay of Plenty. With 5 years selling FUSO trucks for both Roadlife and Keith Andrews, Nigel then had over 8 years with Trucks and Trailers selling Mercedes trucks. This of course fits very well with CDS having the Service and Parts Dealership in Tauranga for Mercedes, Freightliner and FUSO, along with Detroit and Cummins engines, as well as BPW and JOST transport parts.
In addition to Nigel’s proven sales record, he was originally trained as a mechanical technician, working on specialist custom built vehicles in the UK. After learning the trade, Nigel went on to manage the manufacturing and sales divisions, leading a team to achieve considerable success in their sector.
Having also spent several years running his own businesses, both in the UK and New Zealand, Nigel has a great background of experience and skills to bring to our already strong team. With Greg Heaslip as the Engineering Supervisor and Craig Singleton looking after administration, CDS also have a very experienced group of qualified engineers and trades apprentices.
Nigel says “I am very excited about the potential to grow the Engineering Department in the future, building upon CDS’s strong track record servicing the needs of the transport industry in the Bay of Plenty. We have a great team, excellent location and facilities, along with the necessary skills and experience to meet the demands of a wide range of engineering work. Whether that is truck and trailer chassis repair or modifications, new truck fit-outs, trailer refurbishment, COF requirements, damage or accident repair, CDS’s team can handle the lot! CDS also supplies a wide range of Transport Engineering parts.”
